In November 2018, President Trump appointed Chris Krebs as the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). However, Krebs was dismissed in November 2020 following his public refutation of Trump’s assertions regarding extensive voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, asserting that it was “the most secure in American history.”
Upon his return to office in January 2025, President Trump took immediate action by revoking security clearances for 51 former intelligence officials. Later, on April 9, he issued a presidential executive order that specifically targeted Krebs and his role at SentinelOne, where he held the position of Chief Intelligence and Public Policy Officer.
A coalition of experts has rallied in support of Krebs, including notable figures such as Harold Abelson, who is a Professor of Computer Science at MIT; David L. Dill, the Donald E. Knuth Professor Emeritus at Stanford University’s School of Engineering; and Joseph Lorenzo Hall, a Distinguished Technologist at the Internet Society.
