The reggaeton artist known as Daddy Yankee has initiated legal proceedings to dissolve multiple companies he co-founded with his former spouse, Mireddys González Castellanos, following a tumultuous divorce earlier this year.
In a statement released by representatives for the artist, whose real name is Ramón Ayala Rodríguez, it was revealed that “deep personal differences” were cited as a major factor behind this decision. Furthermore, a “complete lack of communication and information” was noted as detrimental to any ongoing collaborative ventures.
This petition, lodged in the San Juan Court of First Instance, aims to dismantle various business entities that Castellanos allegedly continues to oversee, while others have already been disbanded. Rodríguez’s legal team has requested the court to manage the closure of these “longstanding business affairs” responsibly, emphasizing that the present absence of trust and communication has rendered continuation impossible.
A lawyer representing Castellanos has not yet responded to inquiries from Rolling Stone.

Rodríguez and Castellanos shared a three-decade-long marriage, during which they also operated as business partners. However, their personal and professional relationship deteriorated significantly late last year, culminating in Rodríguez removing Castellanos from her management position in December after allegedly discovering various irregularities.
In February, the couple finalized their divorce, and shortly thereafter, Rodríguez filed a lawsuit against Castellanos and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, alleging financial mismanagement and defamation. In the lawsuit, he claimed that they improperly withdrew approximately $100 million from his companies’ bank accounts and accused them of concealing or destroying important business documents, including uncashed checks from expired royalty payments. The suit described the sisters’ management of his career as “disorganized, unprofessional, and irresponsible,” asserting it led to considerable personal and financial repercussions for him.
