Actress Dalljiet Kaur has recently opened up about her divorce from actor Shalin Bhanot, following her own separation from Nikhil Patel, who resides in Kenya. In a heartfelt discussion on SCREEN’s program “Dear Me,” Dalljiet candidly reflected on the challenges of healing and co-parenting after their marriage ended amid claims of domestic abuse.
Dalljiet recounted the rapid development of her romance with Shalin, which began while they were working together on the television show *Kul Vadhu* and later on *Nach Baliye*. “Our marriage happened so quickly after winning *Nach Baliye*. I sometimes wish I had gotten to know him better before we tied the knot. If I had that opportunity, many issues could have been avoided,” she confessed.
She elaborated on the emotional impact the dissolution of her first marriage had on her, explaining, “For two to three years, I was in a state of denial about the divorce. Just uttering the word ‘divorce’ would bring me to tears. At that time, my son Jaydon was just a baby, so coping was incredibly difficult. I even shied away from any romantic attention because, in my mind, I felt still married.”
Over the nine years following their split, Shalin had limited involvement in Jaydon’s life, primarily in an informal capacity. Dalljiet facilitated occasional visits for their son’s benefit but pointed out the lack of significant engagement from Shalin, stating, “If asked today, Shalin wouldn’t even know how old Jaydon is.”
Dalljiet’s decision to remarry was influenced by Jaydon’s yearning for a father figure. “He was genuinely excited about my second marriage because he missed having a dad. It was heartbreaking to see him longing for that fatherly bond, especially during moments like Father’s Day. I felt as though I had let him down,” she expressed.
Currently, as Dalljiet focuses on moving forward and supporting her son, she emphasizes the importance of protecting Jaydon. “No child deserves to face these challenges. Keeping Jaydon safe is my utmost priority, and I intend to keep that promise.”
In a related development, it seems that Shalin Bhanot has moved on with his life, as he is rumored to be dating Eisha Singh, a contestant from Bigg Boss 18.
