Dana Perino, typically the epitome of poise on “The Five” at Fox News, experienced an unexpected bout of laughter recently when a series of ordinary images of David Hogg appeared during a segment.
These were not amusing or altered images, but rather straightforward snapshots of the newly appointed DNC vice-chair engaging in activities typical for a 25-year-old gun-control advocate and political figure.
Despite the lack of comedic content, Perino found herself unable to maintain her composure. During a discussion focusing on the generational divide within the Democratic Party, her attempts to speak became increasingly difficult as the first image of Hogg—dressed in a parka and speaking into a microphone—took center stage.
“This old-vs.-young dynamic is playing out at the DNC, where the party’s chairman Ken Martin,” she intended to articulate, her laughter emerging uncontrollably.
“Forced a rebuke by … spread … Greg … anyway so Democrats … want to … ” was all she managed to convey amidst her fits of giggles as more images of Hogg appeared on screen.
From Hogg responding to questions during a march at the D.C. mall to a shot of him in a sharp suit, looking contemplative, the visuals seemed to exacerbate her reaction.
Her interruption continued, leaving it uncertain whether she grasped the last image of Hogg speaking at a lectern—perhaps a blessing in disguise given her state.
The amusing episode can be viewed around the 40-second mark in the video linked above.
