Shortly after news of their split circulated, Bryan, 28, addressed the situation on his Instagram Stories. “Addressing something: Brianna and me have broken up with [each other], and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart. She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time and for that I’ll always thank her,” he stated. He noted that this past year has been particularly challenging for him, prompting the decision to part ways.

The couple had begun dating in July 2023 after meeting at the ACM Awards a few months earlier. However, LaPaglia, 25, expressed that she felt “blindsided” by Bryan’s announcement. In her own Instagram Stories, she shared her feelings, stating, “I’m feeling really blindsided right now,” and mentioned her intention to take a break from social media to heal in private.

Later, LaPaglia uploaded an emotional three-minute video to her Plan Bri UnCut account, revealing that she had not been notified before Bryan posted about their breakup. “I just woke up to Zach posting on his Instagram that we broke up, and I had no idea that post was going up,” she shared, visibly upset. “How can you give every ounce of yourself to someone and then be discarded of in a few days? It’s really, really heartbreaking.”

As for Portnoy’s reference to Swift’s song, it resonates with the sentiments expressed in the lyrics, which many fans believe address the singer’s past relationship with Matty Healy.
