Actor David Schwimmer recently shared anecdotes from his earlier career, highlighting a rather unusual job where he had to deliver divorce papers to the rock legend Rod Stewart.
During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Schwimmer discussed his new role in the series Goosebumps: The Vanishing on Disney+ and Hulu, while reflecting on his past experiences in the working world. Although Schwimmer has enjoyed immense success in Hollywood for over three decades, his career beginnings were not without challenges, as he explained to host Stephen Colbert.
“I was searching for a job one summer after my freshman year in college,” Schwimmer recounted. “My mom, a divorce attorney, suggested I become a process server for her. So, there I was, sneaking out of bushes to serve divorce notices. At 18, I fancied myself like James Bond, although the reality was quite different, as I had prior knowledge of where the individuals might be located.”

Continuing with his story, Schwimmer recalled an encounter with one of his more famous clients: “I once served Rod Stewart, and I’m grateful I haven’t bumped into him since that day; I’m not sure he even knows it was me who served him.”
Colbert interjected humorously, suggesting, “Well, he knows now. You might want to change your locks. He could be vengeful.”
Rod Stewart’s personal life includes two notable marriages prior to his current marriage to Penny Lancaster-Stewart. He was married to Alana Stewart from 1979 to 1984 and then to Rachel Hunter from 1990 until their divorce in 2006, following their separation in 1999.
Stewart is gearing up for a new tour, beginning in February, where he will perform across the United States before continuing his residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. He is also among the few artists confirmed to perform at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival on June 25, sharing the stage with legends like Neil Young, who recently announced his participation after clarifying some prior misunderstandings about the event.
