DEA Reports Over 100 Undocumented Immigrants Arrested at Colorado Springs “Underground Nightclub”

In a significant law enforcement operation early Sunday morning in Colorado Springs, over 114 individuals suspected of being in the United States unlawfully were apprehended at a party. This action was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), supported by a coalition of more than 300 federal and local officers, including personnel from the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The DEA reported that the operation took place in the vicinity of Academy Boulevard and Airport Road around 3:45 a.m., culminating in the seizure of firearms and illegal substances. “The operation aimed to dismantle an underground nightclub in Colorado Springs,” the DEA stated via social media, confirming the arrests and recoveries.

According to law enforcement, the total attendance at the gathering exceeded 200. Those identified as illegal immigrants were subsequently handed over to ICE for processing and potential deportation. Video footage released by the DEA captures the moment agents, dressed in tactical gear, forcefully entered the venue, prompting many attendees to evacuate. Some individuals initially fled, but were ordered at gunpoint to surrender, many complying and raising their hands.

The presence of active duty military personnel at the event raised additional concerns. Some were reportedly working as private security, while others attended as guests. “The involvement of military personnel is troubling. We are collaborating with the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division on this matter,” noted Jonathan Pullen, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Rocky Mountain Field Division. He acknowledged the prevalence of military bases in the area but emphasized the seriousness of the situation.

U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi remarked on social media that the venue had ties to gang activities and reported the seizure of cocaine and methamphetamines. Additionally, two individuals were taken into custody based on outstanding warrants. The identities of those arrested have not been publicly disclosed.

Local law enforcement capabilities regarding immigration enforcement are restricted by Colorado state law, which mandates that collaboration with federal immigration authorities only occurs under specific conditions, such as having a judge-signed warrant.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez reaffirmed the department’s commitment to addressing criminal activity. “Our task was strictly to tackle the criminal acts that jeopardize community safety,” he explained in a statement. “This operation stemmed from an extensive investigation into severe criminal activity. While our investigation continues, we anticipate additional arrests related to these violations. It is essential to note that the Colorado Springs Police Department is not permitted to carry out immigration enforcement as per state law.”

Yemi Mobolade, the first immigrant to hold the mayoral office in Colorado Springs, supported the law enforcement actions while denouncing criminal behavior. “Let me be clear: any form of criminal activity will not be tolerated in Colorado Springs,” he stated. “This initiative, alongside the execution of warrants, is based on substantial evidence of serious offenses. Our residents deserve a city where laws are respected and unlawful activities are met with swift and decisive action. We remain dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.”
