Classic Overwatch Map Ilios Makes Its Way to Deadlock
In an exciting development for gaming enthusiasts, a modder has successfully integrated the iconic Overwatch map, Ilios, into the game Deadlock, igniting enthusiasm among players.
At a cursory glance, Deadlock might remind some players of Overwatch 2 due to its diverse cast of characters equipped with unique abilities. However, the gameplay experience is notably distinct, offering greater complexity compared to Blizzard’s well-known hero shooter.
The comparison between these two games has been a topic of discussion for some time, particularly for those curious about how an Overwatch 2 map could be adapted into Deadlock. One particular modder has turned this speculation into reality.
As detailed in a Reddit thread, user Space_Bear87 has successfully ported the classic control map Ilios into the Deadlock universe. While the graphical style and lighting are different, the mod captures the essence of the Santorini-inspired environment, complete with iconic white buildings and domed roofs.
Similar to its original format in Overwatch 2, this iteration of Ilios is symmetrical, featuring a central control point. Additional elements, such as mountains, boats, and a distant statue, provide a rich backdrop, enhancing the overall aesthetic.
Given that Deadlock’s game mode leans more towards a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) framework with multiple lanes, some may wonder how well this map will adapt to that style of play. The mod creator shared their vision, stating they plan to tailor Overwatch maps to fit Deadlock’s gameplay.
In the comments section, they elaborated, “Deadlock characters can still buy, level up, etc. But they get the new game mode to play in.”
The community has responded positively to this mod, with many expressing excitement about its potential. One user commented that they are “honestly more hyped for community-made stuff like this than the actual game.”

“Bepop hooks on Ilios well gonna go crazy,” noted another enthusiastic player.
Another user praised the effort, saying, “This is so impressive and well done. These will be amazing to have.”
Currently, Valve’s Deadlock is in its alpha phase. Despite this, it has already garnered a dedicated player base and a vibrant community. As development progresses towards a full release, it will be intriguing to observe what enhancements and features the game will introduce.
