Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is set to host the fourth annual Summer for the City festival, having engaged over 1 million attendees since its inception in 2022.
The forthcoming 2025 festival will feature a diverse array of multidisciplinary performances throughout the Lincoln Center campus. This year’s program includes world and New York premieres, participatory events, and a variety of artistic experiences tailored to provide New Yorkers with enjoyable outdoor spaces to explore during the warmer months.

The American Modern Opera Company will make its long-anticipated debut at Lincoln Center with the expansive Run AMOC* Festival. This initiative comprises 12 productions, 10 of which will be New York premieres, offering an immersive confluence of opera, dance, and music. Some of the notable works include:
- The New York premiere of The Comet/Poppea, blending Claudio Monteverdi’s music with a new score by George Lewis, featuring performances by Davóne Tines and Anthony Roth Costanzo. This production will be directed by Yuval Sharon and will run from June 19 to 21.
- The New York premiere of Harawi, starring Julia Bullock and directed by Zack Winokur, scheduled for June 26.
- A weekend celebration highlighting the works of Julius Eastman, overseen by curator Seth Parker Woods, featuring performances from Davóne Tines and Conor Hanick on June 28-29.
- The New York premiere of the fully staged performance Music for New Bodies by composer Matthew Aucoin, inspired by the poetry of Jorie Graham, will take place from July 10 to 12 and will feature an ensemble cast.
Additionally, Brazil Week will showcase a vibrant mix of artistic expressions reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage from July 16 to 20. Features will include performances by seven-time Latin GRAMMY Award winner Lenine and psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes, among others, alongside an interactive family performance and visual exhibitions.
The Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center, now in its second season under the artistic direction of Jonathon Heyward, will offer an electrifying program that includes both classic and contemporary works, from July 19 to August 9. The festival will showcase music by renowned composers including Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, alongside a New York premiere by Anna Clyne and upcoming commissions from James Lee III, among other exciting works.
An exploration of Robert Schumann’s symphonies will include a collaborative discussion on mental health, reflecting on the intersection of arts and well-being throughout the festival.
The festival will also feature Mahabharata, a compelling retelling of the classic Sanskrit epic by Why Not Theatre, presented in an artistic format that navigates both philosophical and spiritual themes from June 24 to 29.
A week-long celebration for the 60th anniversary of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts will occur from July 23 to 27, offering a plethora of events that highlight cultural legacy through film screenings, workshops, and performances.
Additionally, the BAAND Together Dance Festival will mark its fifth anniversary from July 29 to August 2, reuniting five of New York City’s hallmark dance companies on a single stage.
Highlighted performances will also include Brooklyn Rider: 20 Years at Play with a series of concerts celebrating their two decades of innovation, as well as the highly regarded Living Music Underground series curated by Nadia Sirota, featuring a mix of established and emerging artists across diverse musical genres.
Lincoln Center’s Summer Forum will gather artists and educators from around the world to commemorate 50 years of teaching artistry, with workshops and expert panels scheduled from July 9 to 12.
Summer activities will also emphasize community engagement, including workshops and silent discos, alongside a diversity of performances. Highlighted events such as a Caribbean Day focusing on cultural expressions and the celebration I Am The Band, showcasing women’s contributions to popular music, will enhance the festival’s offerings.
