This week, Motorola has introduced its latest flip foldable devices, which include a notable dust resistance rating of IP48—a feature not commonly found in foldable phones. Meanwhile, Samsung has also slashed prices on its mid-range offerings, presenting several enticing alternatives.

Beginning with the new Razrs, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is equipped with a flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, replacing the “s” chip seen in its predecessor. It boasts a large 7-inch display with an impressive brightness of 4,000 nits and a higher resolution of 1224p+, compared to the previous model’s 1080p+. Additionally, it features a 4-inch cover display. Battery capacity has also seen a significant upgrade to 4,700mAh—700mAh more than the prior Ultra model—alongside improved charging speeds of 68W for the main battery and 30W for the cover battery, a jump from the previous 45W and 15W. The Razr 60 Ultra is equipped with three 50MP cameras: a main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) that supports 8K video, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP front-facing camera.

The standard Motorola Razr 60 provides a modest enhancement over its predecessor, though its IP48 rating is a significant addition. Powered by the Dimensity 7400X chipset, there may be concerns regarding long-term performance. It houses a larger 4,500mAh battery, supporting 30W and 15W charging. The displays include a 6.9-inch 1080p+ inner screen and a 3.6-inch cover display. For cameras, it sports a 50MP main sensor paired with a 13MP secondary lens and a 32MP selfie camera.

A few weeks back, the Samsung Galaxy A56 model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage was available at a discount; now the 8GB/128GB variant has also hit the shelves.

However, noteworthy is the price drop for the Samsung Galaxy S24, now listed at €490 if you opt for the Cobalt Violet color. Stock is limited for this color option, with other available colors priced €100 higher. This variation is arguably a better deal than the A56, despite the Euro model being equipped with the Exynos 2400 chipset, which is superior to the Exynos found in the A-series. Buyers will also gain access to features like a telephoto camera, DeX, wireless charging, a higher water resistance rating, and other perks typically associated with flagship devices.

Turning to another option, the Samsung Galaxy A36 has experienced a slight price drop, now available for €325, down from €350. This device shares similarities with the A56 but is outfitted with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, offering UFS 2.2 storage instead of UFS 3.1, and features a plastic frame rather than metal, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera, which is less robust than the 12MP in the A56 model.

Exploring other budget-friendly options, Xiaomi has introduced two devices available for less than the A35. The Poco X7 Pro features a Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset and boasts an IP69 rating for enhanced durability. It includes a 6.67-inch 12-bit display with a resolution of 1220p+ and a dual-camera setup of 50MP and 8MP. Its global variant is powered by a substantial 6,000mAh battery and supports quick 90W charging.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G offers less impressive specifications in terms of performance with its Dimensity 7300 Ultra chip and a smaller 5,110mAh battery with 45W charging. While it sacrifices some features like water resistance—rated at IP68—it compensates with a standout 200MP main camera, delivering excellent 2x and satisfactory 4x zoom capabilities due to its larger sensor size of 1/1.4″, compared to the 50MP sensor’s 1/1.95″.

The Realme 14 Pro is currently available at a significant discount with the inclusion of a €50 voucher. Yet, considering its Dimensity 7300 Energy processor and a single rear camera of 50MP (excluding the 2MP depth sensor), it appears less appealing at this price point. This model is primarily designed for durability, with an IP69 rating and MIL-STD-810H certification, along with a robust 6,000mAh battery and 45W charging speed. The 6.77-inch OLED display, offering 10-bit color depth, provides decent performance with a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits.

Lastly, the Redmi Note 14 5G is priced €100 less than the Galaxy A36. While it lacks the advanced 200MP camera found in the Pro variant, it is still equipped with a 108MP sensor. The Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, while similar to the 7030, brings added benefits like a microSD slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, this model features a lower resolution of 1080p+ on its 6.67-inch display and lacks the glass protection of Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Its water resistance rating is also lower, at IP64, but it offers the same battery capacity as the Pro, with a 5,110mAh rating and 45W charging.
