Deepika Padukone Reflects on Her Connection to Mumbai and Bengaluru After Becoming a Mother
Deepika Padukone, the celebrated Bollywood actress known for her role in the recent film “Singham Again,” has been enjoying her new role as a mother following the birth of her daughter, Dua. Recently, she took to Instagram with a reflective video that resonated with many of her fans, sparking conversations about her ties to both Mumbai and Bengaluru.
In the video, shared on a Wednesday evening, Deepika engages in a light-hearted exchange while getting her hair styled. Upon being asked about her feelings towards Corner House, a beloved dessert destination from her youth in Bengaluru, she responds with a smile, sharing, “I do miss it but I’m actually in a way glad there isn’t one in Mumbai because that would require different level of will power.”
The conversation quickly shifts to a topic often posed to her: the comparison between her hometown and her current city. “Bombay or Bengaluru?” she is asked directly.
Deepika’s response beautifully encapsulates her nostalgia and realism. “Whenever I come back to Bangalore, it feels like home, you know, because this is where I’ve lived a large part of my life. This is where I’ve grown up, my friends, my school, my college, so all of those formative years and those experiences have all been here,” she shares, highlighting the profound impact that Bengaluru has had on her personal development.
Conversely, her sentiments for Mumbai are equally strong. “Bombay again because professionally, that’s where my life began and that’s where home is now, and the energy in Mumbai is very very different so, it’s very difficult to choose one over the other. But I feel like both cities have really influenced my 39 years,” she elaborates.
The video is paired with a touching collection of photos showcasing Deepika’s childhood in Bengaluru, her schooling, and moments from her college days, along with nostalgic images from her early modeling career in Mumbai.
In her post caption, she invites her audience to ponder, stating: “A question I get asked ever so often…Bengaluru or Mumbai?”
Since her recent appearance in “Singham Again” as DCP Shakti Shetty, Deepika has yet to reveal her next project as she embraces motherhood. However, there are speculations within the film industry that she may reprise her role in the much-anticipated sequel to “Kalki.”
