Delta Airlines Introduces Champagne Taittinger for Enhanced In-Flight Experience

Air travel often presents various challenges for passengers, but Delta Airlines is making strides to elevate the experience with a touch of luxury. Passengers can now enjoy Champagne Taittinger while soaring at 35,000 feet, offering a perfect occasion to celebrate milestones like anniversaries or honeymoons during their journey.

As part of its 100-year anniversary celebrations, Delta Airlines has partnered with the distinguished Champagne house Taittinger, introducing the renowned Brut la Française to its in-flight menu. This collaboration aims to bring an atmosphere of “quiet, sophisticated elegance” to frequent travelers. The premium bubbly will be available on Delta One drink carts prior to meal service and upon request throughout the flight.

Kristen Manion Taylor, Delta’s senior vice president of inflight service, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Taittinger’s reputation for excellence mirrors our own, and we’re thrilled to partner with them as we elevate your travel experience.”

The Brut la Française is characterized by its delicate pale-gold hue and features aromas of peach, vanilla, and brioche, complemented by flavors of honey and fruit. Notably, this Champagne has a significant Chardonnay content (40%) and is typically priced around $70 per bottle. Delta recommends pairing it with seafood or chicken dishes during meal service for an optimal tasting experience.

Vitalie Taittinger, president of Champagne Taittinger, highlighted the synergy between the two brands, stating, “From our very first conversations, it was clear that both Champagne Taittinger and Delta Airlines take great pride in delivering excellence, whether in the air or in a glass. As Delta approached its centennial year, this felt like the perfect time to collaborate to elevate in-flight hospitality, offering travelers a sense of refinement and celebration from the moment they step on the plane.”

Champagne Taittinger, established in 1734 by Jacques Fourneaux and later acquired by Pierre Taittinger in 1931, is a family-owned house based in Reims, France. The brand is known for its rich history and commitment to quality, which has been upheld across three generations.

Moreover, Delta Airlines currently serves over 900,000 glasses of Champagne annually and opens more than 1.4 million bottles, reflecting a strong commitment to enhancing the in-flight beverage experience. The inclusion of Taittinger is part of a broader initiative to refine its food-and-beverage offerings, aiming to position Delta as a leader in wine service among airlines.

Last October, the airline revised its menu to feature a more expansive wine selection, including notable bottles from various renowned wine regions. This move is supported by its proprietary Sky Sommelier program designed to educate select flight attendants on wine service during transatlantic flights.

For travelers looking to savor a high-quality bubbly mid-air, Delta’s new offering certainly provides an indulgent option.
