The recently released thriller Laws of Man showcases a compelling performance by award-winning actor Dermot Mulroney, who takes on a darker and more intense role. During promotional activities for Laws of Man, Mulroney shared insights on his two projects featuring Akerman, revealing that their collaboration in the television series The Hunting Wives paved the way for their next venture. “We had such a great time working together on The Hunting Wives,” he explained. “I thought to myself, ‘What if we worked together again?’ Within two days, she agreed to join the film.”

The storyline of Perfectly Imperfect revolves around Jake, played by Mulroney, who is a traditional single father setting sail on a cruise with his eccentric family and childhood friend, Reuben (Brian Austin Green). Onboard, he encounters Meg (Akerman), a woman from an earlier awkward date. As they reconnect, Jake and Meg learn that their imperfections make them a suitable match for one another, despite their flaws.

Reflecting on their professional compatibility, Mulroney praised Akerman’s commitment, noting that she even adjusted her summer plans to accommodate the production schedule. “Working on The Hunting Wives led to an unexpected yet delightful pairing in Perfectly Imperfect, which tells vastly different kinds of stories,” he remarked, expressing excitement about their growing friendship and future collaborations.

Despite the light-hearted tones of Perfectly Imperfect, Mulroney also delves into a more serious narrative in the series The Hunting Wives, which is slated for release on Starz in 2025. He described the show as a contemporary tale filled with intrigue and suspense, comparable to a modern version of Dallas featuring affluent characters with dubious morals. “It unveils a murder mystery in a way that’s both disturbing and humorously engaging,” Mulroney noted, adding that the series is based on the novel by May Cobb.

As he prepares for this multifaceted role, Mulroney highlighted the captivating nature of the project: “It’s thrilling to work on something that has such a devilish, raunchy, yet funny tone.” He expressed optimism for audience reactions when the show finally airs.
