Baltimore Ravens Secure Playoff Victory Over Pittsburgh Steelers

The Baltimore Ravens showcased their traditional strength in rushing as they triumphed 28-14 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their opening playoff match of the season. The Ravens amassed a remarkable total of 299 rushing yards during the game, with star running back Derrick Henry being a standout performer.

During the first half, the Steelers struggled significantly, failing to score as they punted on all four of their possessions. In contrast, the Ravens were efficient and powerful from the start. On their opening drive, they executed a flawless 95-yard march down the field, culminating in a 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson to wide receiver Rashod Bateman.

As the second quarter progressed, the Ravens continued their ground dominance, orchestrating a 13-play drive that featured solely running plays and ended with Henry scoring his first touchdown of the game. Just before halftime, with a mere two seconds remaining, Jackson again showcased his elusiveness and connected with Justice Hill, extending the lead to 21-0. This offensive onslaught placed the Ravens in a commanding position, registering 19 first downs to the Steelers’ two at the half.

The Steelers did not relent, however. From their own 2-yard line, quarterback Russell Wilson found momentum, completing crucial passes, including a 30-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Van Jefferson, which finally got Pittsburgh on the scoreboard in the third quarter. But the Ravens quickly responded to this breakthrough; Henry found running room and raced 44 yards to score, reestablishing a comfortable lead for Baltimore.

As the game progressed, Wilson executed another impressive throw, this time to George Pickens, narrowing the gap to a two-score game late in the third quarter. Despite the Ravens’ offense cooling down in the second half, the Steelers couldn’t capitalize, ultimately turning the ball over on an attempted fourth-down conversion as they sought to make the contest closer.

In terms of individual statistics, Derrick Henry was exceptional, racking up 186 yards on 26 carries and scoring twice. Lamar Jackson also displayed his dual-threat capabilities, contributing 81 yards on the ground while completing 16 of 21 passes for 175 yards.

With this victory, the Ravens now look ahead to their next challenge in the divisional round, likely facing the Buffalo Bills unless a surprising outcome alters the matchup.
