DHL Express has announced the resumption of shipments for packages exceeding $800 destined for customers in the United States, as reported by Reuters. This decision comes after the international shipping provider temporarily halted these shipments last week in response to an increase in formal customs clearances, linked to the Trump administration’s implementation of extensive tariffs on imported goods.
Starting today, DHL has reinstated its business-to-consumer shipments valued between $800 and $2,500, reverting to the standard “informal” entry procedure for customs clearance, as detailed on their website according to DHL. It’s notable that shipments classified as business-to-business and those under the $800 threshold were not impacted during the suspension. However, DHL cautions that certain consumer packages might still face delays in transit to the US.
The company has stated that its operations have returned to normal following what it describes as “constructive dialogue” with officials from the US government. This conversation highlighted the government’s readiness to comprehend the difficulties faced by the shipping giant and their commitment to respond promptly to ensure smooth shipping for US consumers.
