Diablo 4 Trading Function Suspended Due to Item Duplication Bug
Blizzard Entertainment has swiftly halted the trading feature in Diablo 4 in response to emerging reports of an item duplication glitch that is affecting the game’s economy.
Multiple sources indicate that this new bug has quickly propagated throughout the game, leading to a significant influx of duplicated items—many of which are typically rare and sought after. Content creators have taken to platforms such as TikTok to showcase instances of players successfully duplicating these valuable items. Notably, Diablo 4 streamer Rob2628 raised concerns regarding the situation, stating that “‘thousands of duped materials’ have started flooding the market.”
There are reports suggesting that the duplication exploit has been shared openly during a live stream in China, with thousands tuning in to witness demonstrations of the glitch. This has further escalated concerns within the community about the stability of the in-game economy.
In a public statement on the Blizzard Forums, Community Manager Adam Fletcher announced the immediate suspension of trading capabilities in the game. He emphasized that the team is actively investigating the situation, saying, “We will be disabling trading in Diablo IV while we investigate a possible duplication issue. We apologize for the disruption and will provide updates on when we will have trading available again once we further investigate and identify any issues we need to resolve.”
At this stage, Blizzard has not provided a timeline for when trading might resume. Historically, similar issues have led to prolonged suspensions, often lasting several days, prompting speculation that a resolution for the item duplication bug may not be forthcoming in the immediate future.
This incident marks yet another challenge for Diablo 4 following the launch of Season 5 on August 6, during which Blizzard has issued three separate hotfixes to address various issues, including problems linked to Infernal Compasses, Greater Affix chests, and bugs related to experience points and item drops.
