Breast cancer survivor Rozlyn Khan shares her perspective on fasting and exercise during cancer treatment, raising important discussions linked to Hina Khan’s Ramadan practices.
Breast cancer survivor Rozlyn Khan has voiced her thoughts on the challenges of fasting and exercising during cancer treatment, coinciding with updates from television actress Hina Khan regarding her Ramadan observances. Rozlyn’s comments have ignited discussions regarding Hina’s health and lifestyle choices as she navigates her own battle with cancer.
Previously, Rozlyn urged Hina to clarify her medical condition publicly, questioning whether Hina is indeed dealing with stage 2 breast cancer rather than stage 3. Most recently, she has scrutinized Hina’s assertion of maintaining her fasting routine and physical workouts during Ramadan while undergoing treatment.
In a series of posts shared on her Instagram stories, Rozlyn expressed skepticism about the possibility of fasting and exercising simultaneously during such a demanding period. She stated, “Fasting is extremely challenging… For an average person, it’s hard to maintain workouts while fasting. For a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy or targeted therapies, doing both seems virtually impossible.”
Rozlyn emphasized the significance of a proper nutritional regimen for cancer patients, noting that a balanced diet and adequate hydration are crucial for countering the effects of chemotherapy and avoiding issues like muscle cramps. She shared that she herself had to forgo fasting this year due to the physical demands of her ongoing treatment.
Although her comments were not directly aimed at Hina, they surfaced soon after Hina showcased her Sehri and Iftar meals, featuring items such as dates, various fruits, fried snacks, and sweet beverages. Rozlyn expressed concern over the consumption of high-sugar and fried foods, advising that those undergoing cancer treatment should strictly adhere to dietary guidelines provided by their oncologists.
“Everyone’s journey differs in complexity and challenges. Foods like maida, sugar, and fried items are not suitable for you at this stage. If you feel you’ve sufficiently recovered, fasting might be an option, but it’s essential to follow the nutrition plan set by your cancer dietitian. Maintaining hydration is critical, especially if treatment is ongoing. Prayer is central during Ramadan, but unhealthy food choices are not conducive to health—steer clear of sugar,” Rozlyn advised.
Hina Khan, a renowned figure in the television industry, revealed her stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in June 2024. Known for her roles in popular series such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and her participation in reality shows like Bigg Boss 11, Hina has been candid about her experiences and has garnered support from many fans.
Since her diagnosis, Hina has been undergoing various treatments, including chemotherapy, while maintaining a hopeful demeanor.
