During one of his recent performances in Hyderabad, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh addressed the controversy surrounding a warning issued by the Telangana government. The notice requested that he refrain from performing songs that reference alcohol and violence. Despite the warning, during his concert, Diljit made a playful comment regarding the restrictions.
“When artists come here from other countries, they are allowed to do whatever they want… But when an artist from your own country is singing, people have problems,” he remarked. Clips from the concert quickly gained traction online, with fans sharing his performances where he modified the lyrics of his songs to comply with the government’s request while still acknowledging the core themes.

The warning issued to the singer emphasized that he should avoid performing songs that could be interpreted as promoting alcohol, drugs, or violence. It also advised against involving children in his performance, citing concerns that loud noises and bright lights could be detrimental to their well-being.
This notice was prompted by a complaint from a local citizen in Chandigarh and was distributed by the District Welfare Officer of the Department of Welfare for Women and Children, Disabled, and Senior Citizens in Rangareddy.
