Production designer Julie Berghoff and her team have transformed a vision inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright into reality on the Warner Bros lot. They constructed an impressive 8,000-square-foot, two-story building inside Stage 23 for the interior, while also redesigning the façade of an existing structure to represent the exterior. Following Wright’s innovative techniques, Berghoff utilized prefabricated blocks, though they were crafted from plaster instead of concrete. These blocks were created using a mix of casting, laser cutting, and CNC routing, a computer-driven cutting method. “If I needed to make adjustments, it was a significant challenge because everything was based on the 18-inch blocks,” she reflects. “This was a technically complex project, and we completed it in just six weeks.” Emulating Wright’s design philosophy, set decorator Claire Kaufman also crafted unique furniture pieces tailored for the space.
The Harvey House and the Foster Carling Residence

In the series The Studio, Matt Remick, portrayed by Rogen, interacts with a notable roster of actors and directors, all playing versions of themselves. The ensemble includes Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Charlize Theron, Greta Lee, Steve Buscemi, and Olivia Wilde. Remick’s character navigates the business side of filmmaking, often becoming the antagonist who must temper soaring ambitions, manage expectations, and occasionally find himself in embarrassing situations. Despite this, both he and his former boss Patty, played by O’Hara, share a genuine love for cinema and respect for artistic expression. The creators aimed to reflect this passion through their choice of residences, so Berghoff, along with location scout Stacey B. Brashear, embarked on a mission to uncover architecturally significant homes suited for movie executives. “In some cases, we were simply placing letters on doors, hoping for a response,” says Berghoff, acknowledging the persistence of Brashear. Their efforts culminated in the discovery of three remarkable midcentury-modern houses designed by John Lautner, a pioneering American architect and protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright.
In the pilot episode, viewers witness Matt visiting Patty at her striking hilltop home, where she greets him in a grand entryway characterized by stone flooring and extensive glass windows. This residence, known as the Harvey House, was constructed by Lautner in 1950 for Leo M. Harvey, an aluminum industry leader. Having been one of Lautner’s early projects, the house fell into neglect during the 1980s until it was purchased in 1998 by actress Kelly Lynch—known for her role in Charlie’s Angels—and her spouse, writer and producer Mitch Glazer, who outbid Leonardo DiCaprio. Together, they undertook a thorough restoration with assistance from Helena Arahuete of Lautner Associates, and they still call it home today.
