Regent Hotels & Resort Launches in Canggu, Bali

Regent Hotels & Resort has marked its return to Bali with the soft opening of a newly constructed beachfront resort in the vibrant locale of Canggu. General manager Manish Puri emphasized the brand’s legacy, stating, “Regent was the pioneer of private pools and villas in Bali during the early 1990s, and this innovation has since become the gold standard in luxury accommodations worldwide.”

The new resort spans 14 acres of lush gardens by the sea and features a total of 150 suites and villas. Designed by the acclaimed Irish landscape architect John Pettigrew, the property embraces natural materials such as timber and andesite stone, providing a harmonious blend with its surroundings. “Guests are welcomed by our stunning arrival pavilion, showcasing an elaborate paras stone carving that illustrates a whimsical floral design,” Puri noted. Created by local artisans over a span of 30 days, this intricately chiseled artwork embodies the resort’s commitment to beauty and meticulous craftsmanship.

The architectural vision for the property comes from Wimberly, Allison, Tong, and Goo (WATG), who crafted the design to reflect Bali’s breathtaking landscapes and traditional crafts. For the interior spaces, Regent engaged Hirsch Bedner Associates, who infused vibrant colors, local fabrics, and various artisanal works, including batik textiles and handcrafted teak bathtubs.

The spacious accommodations begin with the Studio Suite, measuring 818 square feet, and extend to a lavish Two-Bedroom Penthouse that boasts an impressive 6,652 square feet and features a private infinity pool that creates a seamless connection with the Indian Ocean. Larger villas are equipped with kitchens or pantries, along with access to the Regent Club, which offers complimentary Champagne, a selection of premium beverages, all-day dining, breakfast, and an exclusive infinity pool for adults that includes ocean-view cabanas. Tailored experiences are also available for guests.

Every visitor, regardless of their suite type, enjoys amenities such as a personalized pillow menu for enhanced comfort, along with a private balcony fitted with lounge seating and a dining area for two. The resort features nine swimming pools, and the Regent Kids program embraces Bali’s leisure ethos with a creative indoor-outdoor play area.

Regent plans to introduce five unique dining experiences, with Taru being the first to open. This venue will offer a diverse range of dishes inspired by and sourced from Indonesia’s vast archipelago. The Beach House will provide diners with views of surfers while they enjoy crafted cocktails infused with Balinese ingredients and savor a menu focused on seafood. Renowned chef Andrew Walsh is set to present a Spanish tapas venue on the nearby Batu Bolong street, followed by the anticipated 2025 debut of his Michelin-starred Singapore concept, Cure, featuring a blend of modern European cuisine with Asian techniques and local ingredients.

Additionally, the partnership with Raison d’Etre Spas has led to the creation of the inaugural Regent-branded spa, named Regent Spa & Wellness. This tranquil retreat includes seven treatment rooms, a sauna, and a plunge pool, designed to honor the local traditions of massage, yoga, and holistic well-being. The spa menu offers a variety of treatments, including customizable facials by Kerstin Florian and therapies utilizing vibrating crystals and light frequencies.

While Canggu is known for its lively atmosphere, Puri asserts that the resort aims to provide guests with a unique escape filled with exclusivity, tranquility, and wonder. “Our visitors can look forward to experiencing the essence of Bali throughout the resort, along with our brand’s thoughtful commitment to crafting unforgettable moments,” he concluded.
