According to the White House, Donald Trump’s physician has confirmed that the 78-year-old former president is “fully fit” to fulfill the responsibilities of his office after the results of a recent physical exam were disclosed. Trump, who will celebrate his 79th birthday on June 14, was assessed by Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, who emphasized the positive impact of Trump’s “active lifestyle” on his overall health.

In a report made public on Sunday, Barbabella described Trump’s health as being in “excellent cognitive and physical condition,” affirming that he is fully capable of serving as both commander-in-chief and head of state.

Notably, Trump’s physical examination revealed that he has lost 20 pounds since his prior evaluation as president in 2020, with his weight decreasing from 244 pounds to 224 pounds.

The examination summary also mentioned that Trump had previously undergone cataract surgery, a routine procedure for many older adults. This surgery involves the removal of a clouded lens in the eye, replaced by an artificial lens to enhance vision clarity.

Barbabella highlighted Trump’s busy daily schedule, which includes numerous meetings, public engagements, and media interactions. The doctor also noted Trump’s enthusiasm for golf, mentioning that Trump has recently achieved victories in tournaments at his golf clubs in Florida.

Trump’s cholesterol levels have shown improvement over the years, aided by medications such as rosuvastatin and ezetimibe. His cholesterol readings have steadily decreased: from 223 in January 2018 to 196 in early 2019, to 167 in 2020, and now to 140. Ideally, total cholesterol levels should fall below 200.

Concerns About Blood Pressure

During this latest physical evaluation, Trump’s blood pressure was measured at 128 over 74, which is categorized as elevated. This could indicate a risk for developing hypertension if no preventive measures are taken.

His resting heart rate remained stable at 62 beats per minute, consistent with previous evaluations. A typical resting heart rate for adults ranges between 60 to 100 beats per minute, with a lower rate generally signaling better cardiovascular health.

Additionally, Trump is on a regimen that includes aspirin, which serves to mitigate the risk of heart attack and stroke.
