Elon Musk’s Initiative Enters FCC
Elon Musk’s newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has made its presence known within the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This agency holds significant authority over various resources that may impact Musk’s business ventures, as reported by The Verge.
According to findings, three individuals associated with DOGE are listed in the FCC’s public directory titled “Finding People at the FCC.” These individuals include Tarak Makecha, Jordan Wick, and Jacob Altik, all of whom are connected with the agency through their listed email addresses. They are designated under the office labeled “OCH,” which is specified in other FCC documents as the Office of the Chairman.
Recently, DOGE has broadened its operations to include various regulatory bodies, such as the Federal Trade Commission, which was also highlighted by The Verge in a recent report. The FCC’s regulatory purview over telecommunications sectors like radio, television, broadband, and satellite services is particularly relevant to Musk’s enterprises, including efforts such as securing permissions for SpaceX’s Starlink functionality. This authority encompasses maintaining crucial data on SpaceX and its market rivals to guide its regulatory decisions.
In the backdrop of these developments, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt previously indicated that Musk would abstain from involvement with any matters that might pose conflicts of interest. At this juncture, the FCC has not provided a response regarding the specific duties that the DOGE personnel will undertake within the agency or the limitations that might be imposed on their access to sensitive information.
