Stella further shared on Facebook the following day, stating, “It’s never easy to lose a loved one,” and indicated that David passed away during the early hours.
Through another post on Threads, she wrote, “My brother David left us this morning. He finally got his angel wings. RIP dear soul. Love you forever.”
As of the latest updates, Dolly Parton had not publicly responded to the news of her brother’s passing.
An obituary on the Farrar Funeral Home website confirmed that David Parton, also referred to as David W. Parton, passed away on November 15 at his residence in White Pine, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Donnie, as well as his parents, Robert Lee and Avie Lee Owens Parton, and siblings Larry, Floyd, and Randy Parton. David had retired from a career as a superintendent for bridge builders at Simpson Construction.
Among Dolly’s 11 siblings, David’s passing marks yet another loss for the Parton family, which has experienced multiple bereavements in recent years, including the death of Randy in 2021 after a battle with cancer at 67 and the loss of Floyd Parton in December 2018 at age 61.
When Randy died, Dolly shared a poignant reflection on Facebook, noting, “My brother Randy has lost his battle with cancer. The family and I are grieving his loss, but we know he is in a better place than we are at this time. We are a family of faith, and we believe that he is safe with God and that he is joined by members of the family who have gone on before and have welcomed him with joy and open arms.”
