Trump’s Medical Evaluation Results Released

The results of President Donald Trump’s initial physical examination during his second presidential term have been made public.

On April 11, Trump, aged 78, visited Walter Reed Army Medical Center located in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. He underwent a thorough evaluation that afternoon before heading to Mar-a-Lago for the weekend.

On April 13, White House physician Sean Barbabella disclosed the findings, detailing the medications Trump is currently taking, along with his weight change since his first term, among other health indicators.

According to the health memo, Trump is prescribed two cholesterol medications, Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe, and uses Aspirin for cardiac prevention. He also applies Mometasone cream as required for a skin condition.

In terms of weight, the president stands at 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 224 pounds. This marks a decrease from 244 pounds during his last physical in 2020, as reported by the Associated Press.

Barbabella assured that Trump, being the oldest individual to be elected president, is “fully fit” to serve, crediting the president’s “active lifestyle” as a significant factor contributing to his overall good health.

Additional information regarding Trump’s medical history reveals that he has undergone cataract surgery on both eyes, although specific dates for these procedures were not provided. In July 2024, he had a colonoscopy that detected a benign polyp along with diverticulosis, a condition affecting the colon wall.

The memo confirmed that Trump is current on all recommended vaccinations, including those for travel. Barbabella noted that the president is in excellent health and exhibits strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function. His daily routine includes various meetings, public appearances, press engagements, and his enjoyment of golf.

Prior to the announcement of his physical, Trump expressed his optimism on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, “I have never felt better, but nevertheless, these things must be done!”

While Trump became the oldest person inaugurated as president earlier this year at 78 years and 7 months on January 20, 2025, he will hold the title of oldest president in U.S. history if he completes his full term.

The former president had been notably reticent about health disclosures during his first term and did not release recent medical information during his 2024 campaign, which continued even after a June assassination attempt that resulted in a bullet grazing his ear.

In the absence of an official medical report relating to the president’s recovery from the incident, his campaign issued a memo from Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, a former physician for Trump and a supporter. Jackson stated he had reviewed Trump’s medical records and “completely concurred” with the treatment received at Butler Memorial Hospital post-shooting.

Concerns surrounding Trump’s cognitive capabilities were frequently expressed during both his presidency and campaign.

In June 2024, Variety editor Ramin Setoodeh reported that Trump experienced difficulty remembering details even after multiple lengthy interviews for Setoodeh’s book Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass.

During an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Setoodeh recalled that despite extensive conversations, Trump wouldoften appear vacant when trying to recognize him.

“Donald Trump had severe memory issues,” Setoodeh stated. “As the journalist who spent the most time with him, I have to say, he couldn’t remember things. He couldn’t even remember me.”

Further concerns regarding Trump’s mental health have also come from within his own family.

In a conversation with PEOPLE prior to the 2024 election, Trump’s nephew, Fred C. Trump III, reflected on the family’s history with dementia, noting similarities between his uncle’s recent behavior and that of other relatives who faced cognitive challenges.

Fred specifically mentioned his grandfather Fred Christ Trump Sr.’s struggle with dementia, sharing observations of his uncle’s disorientation during a 2023 visit to Mar-a-Lago. He recounted how his uncle repeated himself during their interaction and appeared fatigued.

“He kept repeating something to me time and time again when I had met him,” Fred reported. “He looked tired and different.”

Fred also pointed out that he observed a shift in his uncle’s communication style, noting that he had become more openly crude and aggressive in recent years. While acknowledging that “Donald has always cursed,” he felt that the president’s recent language reflected a troubling level of hostility.

At that time, Trump’s campaign dismissed the nephew’s comments as “completely fabricated and total fake news.”
