Authors Unite for Trans Rights Through Charity Auction
In light of the rising number of attacks against trans rights, a coalition of crime fiction authors has teamed up with the Transgender Law Center to organize a charity auction. This initiative aims to financially support efforts to protect the rights of transgender individuals and those who are gender-nonconforming, empowering them to live authentically and safely.
More than 100 authors have joined this effort, including notable names such as Gillian Flynn, Roxane Gay, David Baldacci, Louise Penny, Walter Mosley, Charlaine Harris, and Ann Cleeves. Their collective action underscores a growing commitment among writers to advocate for marginalized communities.
The auction features a variety of enticing items for bid. Participants can place offers on signed copies of popular books, including Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, as well as works from Roxane Gay. Other unique offerings include character naming rights from Lisa Gardner, a dazzling diamond pendant, manuscript critiques, exclusive book club appearances, and much more.
The fundraising goal for this auction is set at $20,000. The organizers emphasize the importance of collaboration, stating, “With your help, we aim to assist the Transgender Law Center in their crucial mission. Together, we can navigate this difficult crossroads. Please join us as we step firmly toward justice, because trans rights are human rights.”
The auction commenced on March 26 and will continue until April 1, providing a limited window for contributors to engage and support this vital cause.
