Channing Tatum Teases Role in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Channing Tatum has recently shared some insights into his anticipated role in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. Following years of passionate advocacy for a solo Gambit movie, Tatum has finally taken on the beloved character, first appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine. His portrayal of Gambit has garnered positive reactions, leaving fans thrilled to see him listed among the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
During a recent appearance at Cinema Con, Tatum spoke with Extra regarding his involvement in the film. There was speculation that he would reprise his role as Gambit, yet he remained ambiguous about the details. Tatum noted that character names remain unconfirmed, leading to speculation that he may portray a different character. However, he didn’t rule out the possibility of playing Gambit. Tatum remarked:
“Personally, all I was guaranteed was a chair. They said that I have a chair, and I can at least watch the movie from the chair. You know, and it was just my name, it wasn’t exactly Gambit. So, I work in the world of just like, of binary yes or no’s, and I’ve only been guaranteed so far a chair to watch the movie in, so that’s where I’m at.”
What Exactly Do We Know About ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
While Tatum’s statements can be perceived as humorous, many fans feel it is unlikely he would take on any character other than Gambit in this project. Excitement continues to build around Avengers: Doomsday, even with the uncertainties surrounding the film. Notably, Halle Berry’s recent comments about her non-participation have sparked questions regarding their authenticity, potentially serving as misdirection.
Moreover, fans are eager to discover whether Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, especially when considering connections between Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the events of the preceding Avengers film. Recent reports suggest intriguing possibilities, which could also apply to Doctor Strange’s role in the storyline.
Should Tatum indeed return as Gambit, it is expected he will finally share the screen with the 20th Century Fox X-Men characters he hasn’t interacted with before. With James Marsden reprising his role as Cyclops and Kelsey Grammer returning as Beast, there is speculation that the X-Men lineup could take inspiration from the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series and the upcoming X-Men ’97. This reinforces ongoing rumors about the film being a pivotal entry in the MCU’s “sacred timeline.” Fans might finally witness the long-awaited interaction and romance between Gambit and Rogue come to life in Avengers: Doomsday.
