Alijah Arenas’ Cybertruck crashed into a tree in a Los Angeles suburb early Thursday morning. While the specifics of the incident remain unclear, authorities have ruled out alcohol or drug involvement.
TMZ Sports has learned from law enforcement sources that the LAPD did not find any indications of intoxication when they arrived at the scene shortly after 4:55 AM, when the 18-year-old five-star recruit was rescued from his burning vehicle.
Following the crash, Arenas was taken to a nearby hospital. However, by the time officers checked in, he had already been intubated, which meant a blood test could not be conducted.
According to reports, law enforcement believes that excessive speed played a significant role in the single-car accident, along with the inexperience of a young driver operating a powerful vehicle. The Cybertruck can accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in approximately 2.6 seconds, depending on the model.
In summary, there is no ongoing criminal investigation related to the crash.
Regarding Alijah’s health, a representative for the Arenas family reported on Friday that the promising basketball player is showing positive signs of recovery, though he is not fully out of danger yet.
