Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava Achieves Rs 140 Crore Milestone in Less Than a Week
Vicky Kaushal’s latest film, Chhaava, helmed by director Laxman Utekar, has made an impressive mark at the Indian box office, garnering Rs 140 crore within just a week of its release.
In an unsettling episode during one of the showings, a man vandalized a theater screen in Bharuch, Gujarat. This incident occurred late Sunday night at RK Cinemas during the 11:45 pm screening of Chhaava. Reports suggest that the individual, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, approached the screen and began tearing it apart. He escalated the acts of destruction by using a fire extinguisher to create a significant gash in the fabric of the screen.
The perpetrator, identified as Jayesh Vasava, was promptly restrained by security personnel and later taken into custody by the police. Eyewitness accounts indicate that Vasava’s outburst was triggered by a particular scene where Kaushal’s character, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, is depicted facing aggression. A video capturing the incident has since emerged on social media platforms.
Chhaava, produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films, is a historical drama that delves into the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the renowned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Kaushal portrays the lead role alongside an ensemble cast that includes Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta, each playing vital roles that contribute to the narrative.
The film has received positive feedback, earning a 3.5-star rating from News18 Showsha. The review noted, “Chhaava successfully encapsulates the essence of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and emphasizes the importance of his legacy on a global scale.”
As Chhaava continues to perform well in theatres, there is speculation regarding its upcoming availability on streaming platforms. According to a report by OTTplay, the film is anticipated to debut on Netflix following its theatrical run. However, the production team has not disclosed any specifics regarding this potential partnership, which is in contrast to the typical practice of announcing streaming deals ahead of release. Generally, films transition to streaming services about 45 to 60 days after their premiere, but official confirmation from the filmmakers is still pending.
