In an unexpected move, Dynabook has launched its T series featuring the latest 13th-generation Intel processors, while NEC has unveiled the Lavie N16, equipped with a blend of AMD Ryzen 7 and Intel 12th-generation processors.

The standout feature of these 2025 business laptops is their inclusion of built-in optical drives, contrasting sharply with the industry’s current tendency towards ultra-slim designs that prioritize portability over the ability to play physical media.

This series offers four configurations: T5/Y, T6/Y, T7/Y, and T9/Y. Notably, the T9/Y model is the only one equipped with a Blu-ray Disc drive, while the others utilize a DVD Super Multi-Drive.

The T9/Y and T7/Y models harness the power of Intel Core i7-1360P and i7-1355U processors, respectively, and are enhanced with dual cooling fans for optimal performance.

On the other hand, the T6/Y and T5/Y models are fitted with Intel Core i3-1305U and i5-1335U processors and feature a single cooling fan configuration.

Memory options for the T series range from 16GB to 32GB of RAM, alongside storage capacities that span from a 256GB to a 1TB SSD, with users benefiting from the capability to upgrade memory through a dedicated access panel on the bottom.

This series is well-equipped with connectivity options, including three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one Thunderbolt 4 (USB4 Type-C) port, an HDMI output, a wired LAN port, and a microphone/audio jack, along with support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

The pricing for the T series begins at approximately 160,000 yen (around $1,046) for the entry-level T5/Y and goes up to approximately 280,000 yen (about $1,830) for the top-end T9/Y model.
