A brief mention on the Steam page for Elden Ring Nightreign has suggested that the game will feature ongoing support after its launch, including new classes and bosses.
Elden Ring Nightreign caused a stir among FromSoftware enthusiasts following its unexpected announcement during The Game Awards 2024. Given the recent success of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for the original Elden Ring, many were taken by surprise to see the game’s logo appear in the trailer, especially since it had been stated earlier that there would be no further expansions for the series.
Although a fully developed sequel to Elden Ring may still be a way off, this new standalone title promises to inject a multiplayer element into the beloved FromSoftware formula while drawing inspiration from roguelikes and battle royale games. With a pre-release network test on the horizon, it seems the developer intends to maintain engagement with the game through continuous updates.
According to an initial report by PC Gamer, a now-removed section from Elden Ring Nightreign’s Steam description appeared to confirm plans for future downloadable content (DLC), including new playable characters and bosses. The text specified, “Additional DLC—Additional playable characters and bosses,” before it was swiftly taken down.
What Will Elden Ring Nightreign’s DLC Look Like?
At its launch, Elden Ring Nightreign is set to offer eight classes, although specific details are currently available for only four: the Wylder, Guardian, Recluse, and Duchess. Each class presents unique playstyles along with individual abilities and ultimate skills.
These classes align well with traditional RPG roles such as tank, caster, and damage dealer. Considering the robust build diversity in Elden Ring, the addition of further classes down the line appears likely given FromSoftware’s extensive lore and character options.

The array of bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign is another aspect generating excitement. The original game offered over 100 bosses, and promotional material for Nightreign has already teased some exciting new adversaries exclusive to this title.
It remains uncertain whether the bosses expected in post-launch updates will be all-new creations or possibly throwbacks to popular ones from the Dark Souls series. Nonetheless, it’s encouraging that FromSoftware appears to be investing in the longevity of Elden Ring Nightreign with a clear plan for future content expansions.
