Preparations Underway for Upcoming Ontario Election
Elections Ontario is gearing up to support the 10.8 million eligible voters for the upcoming snap election in the province. The organization has revealed plans to engage over 55,000 individuals as workers for the election campaign and the voting day scheduled for February 27.
To facilitate this monumental task, Elections Ontario is establishing 124 local voting offices and over 7,000 voting sites throughout the province. In a bid to fill these positions, the agency is launching a recruitment initiative this week, encouraging residents of Ontario to apply for various roles at polling stations.
The recruitment effort aims to fill 14 distinct positions, catering to a range of availability from part-time to full-time roles. Notably, one of the essential positions is that of information assistants, who will be tasked with welcoming and guiding voters in order to streamline their voting experience.
Additionally, the agency is seeking to hire tabulator deputy returning officers and advance poll tabulator deputy returning officers. These roles are vital as they will ensure the functionality of vote tabulators, managing the intake of ballots and producing results through Elections Ontario’s software.
The compensation for these roles varies, with information assistants earning approximately $20 per hour, escalating to $29.50 per hour for positions like area managers and advance poll supervising deputy returning officers. The hiring process is designed to accommodate both individuals with advanced computer skills and those without.
