New Live-Action Predator Film Set to Launch

In an exciting reveal, 20th Century Studios has unveiled a teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action film Predator: Badlands. This new installment intriguingly positions the iconic Predator character as the central figure of the narrative, marking a significant deviation from previous films where it served primarily as the antagonist.

The story centers on Dek, portrayed by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, who is a young member of the Predator species facing exile from his community. He joins forces with a Weyland-Yutani Android named Thia, played by Elle Fanning, in an effort to confront a formidable foe—a creature that the trailer ominously labels as “the ultimate adversary,” described as being “unkillable.” Initial glimpses in the trailer suggest this new adversary takes on an entirely different and imposing form, one that has not been seen in previous films.

Rumors surrounding the film indicate that portions of the storyline may unfold on the home planet of the Predators. Furthermore, Predator: Badlands aims to delve deeper into the cultural and social fabric of the Predator civilization, exploring their language and customs. It is being positioned as a standalone entry within the expansive Predator/Alien franchise.

The teaser offers a tantalizing look at intense confrontations among multiple Predators, striking visuals of the alien landscape, and a captivating portrayal of Thia as an android. Fans of the franchise can anticipate the introduction of new monstrous entities, further enriching the movie’s mythical landscape.

Director and co-writer Dan Trachtenberg, known for his successful standalone film Prey, helms this new project. While Prey featured a Predator in the traditional villain role set in a historical context, Predator: Badlands flips the script. In addition to his work on the new film, Trachtenberg is also developing an animated anthology series titled Predator: Killer of Killers, set to premiere on Hulu on June 6.

Predator: Badlands is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7. With this initial teaser, audiences are left eager for more information, which will undoubtedly be revealed in upcoming promotional materials.
