Elon Musk Shares Vision for Tesla’s Future

Investors looking for insights into Tesla’s (TSLA) long-term trajectory received new updates from CEO Elon Musk during the company’s recent conference call.

During the call, Musk outlined a series of ambitious timelines concerning advancements such as robot production and autonomous vehicle services. These remarks came on the heels of the company’s first-quarter financial report, which indicated a substantial 20% decline in auto revenue compared to the previous year.

Highlighted below are four key updates from Musk’s latest address:

Autonomous Rides

Musk stated that Tesla envisions launching fully autonomous ride services in Austin, Texas, starting in June, with plans for expansion into additional cities throughout the year. He anticipates this service becoming financially significant by the later part of 2026.

Self-Driving Personal Vehicles

On the topic of self-driving cars, Musk expressed optimism that “several” U.S. cities could have access to unsupervised, autonomous vehicles by the end of 2025. He posed an intriguing question about the future of travel: “Can you go to sleep in your car and wake up at your destination?” Additionally, he mentioned that some upcoming Model Y vehicles might be able to drive to their owners independently later this year.

More Affordable Tesla Models

In a bid to reach a broader customer base, Tesla plans to introduce lower-priced models within the year, aiming to make electric vehicles more accessible.

Optimus Robots

Musk also discussed the Optimus robots, projecting that thousands will be operational within Tesla’s factories by the end of 2025. He asserted a target of producing one million of these robots annually by 2030.

“We must execute well,” Musk emphasized during the call, as detailed in a transcript from AlphaSense. “But if we do execute well, I think Tesla will be the most valuable company in the world by far.”
