A new wax figure of Elton John, famously known as the Rocket Man, has been unveiled at Madame Tussauds in London, showcasing the artist in a remarkable display that is suspended above a baby grand piano. This installation is being touted as the museum’s most ambitious effort to date.

The new wax figure reflects Elton’s iconic appearance from the 1975 Midsummer Music festival at Wembley Stadium, complete with his signature jeweled jumpsuit, flamboyant eyewear, and the unforgettable visual of him performing a handstand on the keyboard.

Steve Blackburn, the general manager of Madame Tussauds London, remarked on the figure’s creation, highlighting the challenge of embodying Elton’s exceptional stage presence in wax form. He emphasized the effort that went into representing the singer’s iconic performance style.

Elton John has been actively involved with the creation of his wax figures since the 1976 measurement session for his first likeness, building a longstanding relationship with the artists at Madame Tussauds.

This new model adds to a collection of representations of musical legends at Madame Tussauds, joining figures of stars such as Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Amy Winehouse, Freddie Mercury, and David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust persona.

Elton John’s monumental contributions to the music industry have been acknowledged in various forms, including a special postage stamp collection, numerous accolades, and the biopic Rocketman, among others.

Most notably, his recent farewell tour, which concluded in 2023, has set a new record as the highest-grossing tour ever, amassing approximately $939.1 million over 330 performances. This achievement further solidified his status, bringing his career earnings to around $2 billion, making him the highest-grossing solo artist in history.
