England Women Squad Update Ahead of Nations League Fixtures
Fran Kirby has been reinstated in the latest lineup for the England Women’s National Team, with Chloe Kelly also making the cut as they prepare for the upcoming Nations League matches.
This season, Kirby has made 12 appearances in the Women’s Super League (WSL) for Brighton. Her last call-up to represent the Lionesses came in December 2024, but she was unable to participate due to injury concerns.
Chloe Kelly, currently on loan at Arsenal from Manchester City, was initially omitted from Sarina Wiegman’s squad for the international matches in February. However, she was brought in as a replacement for an injured Beth Mead.
Both players are part of the 25-member squad set for the international fixtures in April, alongside Manchester City’s goalkeeper Khiara Keating. Notably, Tottenham’s Jess Naz was excluded from this selection.
In an exciting development, Maisie Symonds has received her first senior call-up, having made a significant impact while playing for England’s U23s. Additionally, Lucy Parker retains her place in the squad after being called up in the previous camp as a substitute for Lotte Wubben-Moy.
England is scheduled to compete against Belgium in Group A3 as part of the upcoming international break. The matches are set to take place at Ashton Gate on Friday, April 4, followed by an away game on Tuesday, April 8.
The Lionesses opened their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Portugal in February, followed by a narrow 1-0 victory over Spain at Wembley. Presently, they occupy the second position in their group, trailing Portugal.
The upcoming camp in April serves as one of the last opportunities for Wiegman to analyze her squad before finalizing the team for this summer’s Euros in Switzerland, where England aims to defend their championship title.
