England Women Dominate Belgium in Nations League Clash
Aggie Beever-Jones and Keira Walsh celebrated their first goals for England as the Lionesses convincingly defeated Belgium 5-0 at Ashton Gate, securing their position at the top of Nations League Group A3.
England established an early lead with first-half goals from defenders Lucy Bronze and Millie Bright. Beever-Jones, Jess Park, and Walsh added to the scoreline in the second half, ensuring the team moved one point ahead of second-placed Spain.
In a match marked by England’s dominance, Belgium, sitting at the bottom of the group, struggled throughout and failed to register a single shot on target, leaving them without a point after three matches.
Team News: Kelly Withdraws from Squad
Prior to the match, it was announced that Chloe Kelly would not be participating due to a foot injury. England made one alteration from their previous victory over Spain at Wembley, with Beth Mead stepping in for Jess Park, who started from the bench.
Looking ahead, the teams are set to meet again on Tuesday in Leuven, where England aims to continue their unbeaten run after a draw against Portugal and their notable win over the world champions, Spain.
The Lionesses opened the scoring in the 21st minute courtesy of a fortunate header from Bronze, whose shot took a significant deflection, wrong-footing Belgian goalkeeper Nicky Evrard. Bronze then turned playmaker just before halftime, flicking on a corner from Beth Mead that found Bright at the back post for the second goal.
Beever-Jones, introduced in the second half for Lauren James, made an immediate impact, netting her first international goal with a precise finish from a Mead cross in the 67th minute. Park, another substitute, followed suit, adding the fourth goal ten minutes later, continuing her scoring momentum from her previous match against Spain.
The highlight of the evening came from Walsh, who capped off the stellar performance by scoring on her 83rd cap, sealing a remarkable 5-0 victory for the Lionesses in Bristol.
