Hi Eoin. You hinted at this role previously, confident I would find it appealing. What made you so certain, and what drew you to Davis Collins?
Well, was I right?
Yes, absolutely.
The characters and the series are truly entertaining. Growing up watching Westerns, I have always appreciated their adventurous spirit. Ransom Canyon combines romance with engaging stories and a touch of grit, providing a delightful escape.
For me, Davis Collins is a romantic figure with a complex personality. His narrative is largely shaped by his role as a devoted family man and father.
Davis represents a significant shift from your previous roles, particularly on La Brea. Was this transformation appealing to you?
Definitely. This character is unlike any I’ve portrayed. I found the romantic aspect particularly engaging, which is a crucial element of the series. The dynamics between Davis, Quinn, and Staten were particularly intriguing for me.
I was excited about portraying a character who is deeply infatuated with a woman and navigates the complexities of that pursuit.
The love triangle between Davis, Quinn, and Staten is a compelling aspect of the story. How did you create a natural chemistry with Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel?
The connection came easily; Minka is incredibly charming, and her on-screen presence reflects her genuine warmth as a person.
Josh Duhamel is equally admirable—he’s one of the kindest and funniest individuals you could meet. Working with talented and wonderful people like them made the experience enjoyable. We formed a great rapport that translated well on screen.

It really is. Josh embodies a rugged yet emotional character, which adds depth to the dynamic.
Davis is also an essential character in the Ransom Canyon novels. Did you delve into the books for research, or did you choose to interpret Davis independently?
I did read some of the series but limited myself to the first book to understand the trajectory without preconceiving too much about the character.
Your character seems more layered in the series compared to the books, which is great.
Indeed. Adapting a book to television often involves character development that enhances depth and complexity, allowing for greater storytelling freedom.
Ransom Canyon blends high drama with romance seamlessly. How would you articulate its essence?
It feels like a fusion of Yellowstone and Friday Night Lights.
That’s a captivating comparison. I loved Friday Night Lights.
Me too! I frequently discussed this with Minka because both shows have a unique way of capturing the nuances of their characters and locations.
In your opinion, will Ransom Canyon resonate with Netflix audiences?
That’s hard to predict. But I personally believe it will find a home with viewers.
Fair enough. What’s your perspective as an actor?
I genuinely hope it will be well-received. This is an exceptional project, showcasing the talents of the writing team led by April Blair. The camaraderie among the cast shines through, creating a profound connection that is evident on screen.

What would you like viewers to understand about Davis before they dive into Ransom Canyon?
It’s important for viewers to recognize that Davis is fundamentally a romantic who deeply cares for his son. I encourage them to view some of his choices with compassion, as they often stem from meaningful motivations.
What do you think will resonate most with the audience when they watch Ransom Canyon?
I believe viewers will become attached to the characters. It’s nearly impossible not to fall for Minka’s and Josh’s portrayals; they’re quite lovable. The characters played by Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, and Drew Linder add to the charm, ensuring there’s someone relatable for everyone.
It seems to offer a rich blend of romance and action.
