$19 Erewhon Strawberry Out of Stock … Influencers Aghast
Published March 21, 2025 4:39 PM PDT
The renowned $19 strawberry from Erewhon is currently unavailable, leaving many curious about when this extravagant fruit will be back on the shelves, sources reveal.
An official from Erewhon explained that unexpected snowfall in Japan has delayed production and shipment of these premium strawberries to their upscale locations.
While there is hope for a swift restock, the timeline remains uncertain, suggesting that influencers may need to seek other luxury items to showcase in the interim.
In case you weren’t aware, Erewhon, an upscale grocery chain in Los Angeles known for its organic offerings and high price tags, gained widespread attention for selling individual strawberries priced at $19. These luxurious fruits hail from Tochigi Prefecture in Japan, often referred to as the “Strawberry Kingdom,” and are supplied by the Japanese vendor Elly Amai.
An employee at the Beverly Hills Erewhon shared that the store had been receiving weekly shipments of approximately 200 strawberries, which would sell out within hours due to high demand.
The strawberries shot to fame after being highlighted by influencers in Los Angeles, with celebrities like Demi Lovato even posting reviews on social media about the delicacy.
However, the high price tag has not gone without critique. Comedian Jason Nash dismissed the product, labeling it a “scam” during his own review.
Interestingly, the viral stars known as the Costco Guys, Andrew “A.J.” Befumo Jr. and his son Big Justice, recently visited Erewhon and made headlines by purchasing a total of 15 strawberries.
If you’re searching for another way to indulge your spending whims, Erewhon also offers a pineapple priced at an eye-watering $400. Clearly, the luxury grocery store knows how to keep things “berry” expensive!
