ESA School Days 2025: Inspiring Young Minds in STEM
From April 7 to 11, the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Centre for Earth Observation in Frascati, ESRIN, played host to the 2025 edition of ESA School Days, attracting nearly 1,400 enthusiastic young students. This annual event is a platform designed to engage and inspire future generations in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The event kicked off with primary school visitors, consisting of fourth and fifth graders, occupying the first three days. The final two days were dedicated to secondary school students, providing a comprehensive overview of the diverse initiatives undertaken by ESA.
Throughout the week, 35 schools from various regions of Italy participated in a series of presentations and hands-on laboratory sessions. These activities offered students an opportunity to delve deeper into the multiple space-related endeavors carried out at the ESA facility.
This initiative, bolstered by contributions from ESERO Italia and the Italian Space Agency (ASI), aims not only to impart knowledge about space exploration but also to foster a passion for scientific inquiry among young minds. By engaging with ESA’s mission and activities, students are encouraged to envision careers in the burgeoning field of space science and technology.
Overall, ESA School Days acts as a vital conduit for nurturing the next generation of STEM professionals, equipping them with the knowledge and inspiration to explore the universe and contribute to advancements in technology and research.
