In mid-April 2025, unverified claims circulated on social media suggesting that Barron Trump, the youngest child of former President Donald Trump, faced rejection from prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia Universities.
These assertions gained traction across platforms including Facebook, X, Threads, Bluesky, and TikTok. Various posts connected these alleged rejections to perceived threats from the White House regarding funding to the universities.
Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse from Rhode Island suggested that these funding issues may stem from a vendetta against Harvard, commenting on X and Threads, linked to an Esquire article, stating, “Can’t help but wonder how many Trumps got rejected by Harvard.”
Importantly, no concrete evidence has surfaced to confirm that Barron Trump was indeed rejected from these institutions, and reports indicate that he is currently a student at New York University. Requests for confirmation or denial from Stanford, Harvard, or Columbia about any berjection have gone unanswered thus far.
Online searches regarding terms such as “Barron Trump Harvard rejection“, “Barron Trump Stanford rejection“, and “Barron Trump Columbia rejection” yielded no evidence supporting these claims as of now. Additionally, searches for “Barron Trump applied to Harvard“, “Barron Trump applied to Columbia“, and “Barron Trump applied to Stanford” also returned no relevant findings.
Moreover, a search on Trump’s Truth Social revealed no instances of “Barron” mentioned alongside any universities. The searches for “Harvard,” “Columbia,” and “Stanford” yielded similar results.
Barron Trump’s choice to enroll at NYU marks a departure from family tradition, as past members of the Trump family have been affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University, with some having attended both institutions.
While the Trump administration does not appear to have overtly targeted Georgetown, there have been actions taken against the University of Pennsylvania, where Trump has frozen funding citing its stance on transgender athletes. This move suggests that universities welcoming Trump family members are not necessarily shielded from the administration’s fiscal decisions, indicating that any claims of retribution related to Barron Trump’s admissions are speculative.
