Amanda Barise Advances in American Idol Season 23
Amanda Barise has secured a spot in the Top 14 of Season 23 of American Idol, primarily due to the judges’ decision. Despite not garnering sufficient viewer votes, she was selected as one of the four contestants saved by Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
Reflecting on the experience, Amanda expressed a whirlwind of emotions during an interview at Hulu’s Get Real event. “It was completely overwhelming,” she shared. Being the last contestant to perform and subsequently the last to be saved added to her anxiety. Yet, she felt honored that the judges recognized her potential, even when the audience response was different.
Amanda highlighted the consistent encouragement from all three judges throughout the competition. She noted, “They’ve shown me a lot of love” and emphasized her belief that they genuinely want her to succeed. The moment Carrie Underwood announced her save was particularly meaningful to Amanda, given Underwood’s own history with the show, noting that her endorsement “carries a little bit more weight.”
Looking forward, Amanda is eager for the audience’s reaction to her upcoming performances, hoping voters will respond positively as the judges have. Regardless of her placement in the competition, she maintains an optimistic outlook for her future. “You don’t have to win to have a big career,” she stated, expressing her goal to connect with an audience that appreciates alternative R&B and jazz.
She also praised the outpouring of support from her fans. Amanda remarked on how touched she is by the messages she has received from those who are glad she was saved and are committed to continuing their support, conveying how “the love and support” she has felt is truly overwhelming.
Amanda and her fellow Top 14 contestants are set to perform live again in an upcoming episode on Sunday, April 27.
