Christine Chiu Discusses Potential Return to Reality Television
It’s been over two years since the conclusion of Bling Empire, and Christine Chiu is reflecting on the possibility of re-entering the realm of reality TV. In a recent interview, she opened up about her thoughts on potentially joining a well-known franchise.
The 42-year-old philanthropist hinted at an ongoing interest from producers regarding her involvement in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, acknowledging “the interest pokers from those entities” in her conversation with PEOPLE. “They’re there. The poking is there,” she remarked, touching on the persistent speculation surrounding her potential casting.
While attending a wedding, Chiu mentioned a conversation with Kathy Hilton, who has appeared on RHOBH, indicating that the topic of reality television came up during their interactions.
Chiu and Hilton share a long-standing friendship, and Christine has expressed support for Hilton’s family inclusive of Nicky Hilton, with whom she posted festive photos on Instagram. In her post, she humorously hinted at her desire to acquire items from Hilton’s upcoming fashion collections for the 2025 Christmas season.
Kathy Hilton initially made her mark on RHOBH in season 11 as a “friend of the housewives,” returning in a similar capacity before announcing her departure from the series in June 2023. Notably, she has since reprised her role for the current season.
In her interview, Christine acknowledged the challenges associated with reality television, stating, “It’s its own monster and you have to be super ready for it.” She added a touch of humor regarding her health, noting that the pressure of such a role could contribute to stress-related issues. “But no, I think it’s a fun ride,” she continued, alluding to her explorations with potential executives without disclosing names. “It’s in the environment.”
Chiu clarified her stance on joining the Housewives franchise specifically, stating, “I don’t think I’ll join [the] Housewives franchise per se, but I’m not opposed to Bravo as a whole or NBCUniversal,” which oversees the network.
Although representatives from Bravo have not responded to inquiries regarding casting matters, such organizations typically refrain from commenting on potential talent speculations.
In a noteworthy revelation at the Gold Gala in May 2024, Christine shed light on past casting opportunities, disclosing that she had received a contract to join RHOBH as far back as 2014. Circumstances surrounding personal losses and opposition from her husband’s family led her to decline the opportunity, though she expressed gratitude for NBCUniversal’s understanding during that time.
Now married to Dr. Gabriel Chiu and serving as a managing partner at his plastic surgery practice, Christine is also a mother to 6-year-old Gabriel Chiu III, affectionately referred to as “Baby G.” Her experiences as a mother and her fertility journey have been prominently featured throughout three seasons of Bling Empire.
Fans of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills can catch new episodes airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo, with availability for streaming on Peacock the following day.
