Courtney Ramsey and Jasmin Carey Reflect on Their Journey in The Amazing Race

In the latest episode of The Amazing Race, Courtney Ramsey and Jasmin Carey faced a tough elimination on Leg 3 while competing in Kyoto, Japan. The couple, both nurses and relatively new to dating, found themselves amidst a tight race. Despite starting the Roadblock challenge with optimism, their hopes took a hit when Courtney attempted to master kemari, a traditional game akin to hacky sack. As they struggled, other teams overtook them, ultimately leaving them in last place when host Phil Keogan delivered the news of their exit.

Reflecting on the Roadblock, Jasmin expressed surprise at their initial agreement to tackle the challenge together. “When we first saw the clue, we both said ‘yes’ at exactly the same time,” she shared in an interview. Meanwhile, Courtney, who hesitated while observing the game on the screen, acknowledged her doubts but leaned on their shared support as teammates.

After a challenging period at the Roadblock, which felt excruciatingly long to Courtney, she finally managed to complete the task. In the taxi ride that followed, deep emotions surfaced as she remembered her late mother, who had lost her battle with brain cancer. “There was so much love in the atmosphere from everyone at the temple,” she said, highlighting the supportive environment. “It was a moment filled with emotion and relief, and I wished I could have embraced everyone there, but time was not on our side.”

Upon arriving at the Detour, Courtney and Jasmin were relieved to find other competitors still in the race. However, they soon encountered another setback with the challenge of constructing large origami cranes. Jasmin detailed their determination to focus, recalling the intensity of their nursing training. “We wanted to pay attention to every detail, but watching other teams finish made it increasingly difficult,” she commented. Frustration crept in as the pressure mounted, and unfortunately, they fell behind as Bernie Gutierrez and Carrigain Scadden managed to leave them in the dust.

Though their time on The Amazing Race was cut short after just three legs, both contestants expressed gratitude for the journey and vowed to return to Japan. “Absolutely, Kyoto is a must-visit for us,” Courtney stated, reflecting on both her and Jasmin’s small-town backgrounds. The couple praised Japan’s rich culture, slower lifestyle, and the kindness of its people. “Everyone was incredibly hospitable, and getting a taxi was so much easier than we expected,” Jasmin added, emphasizing their desire to experience more of what the country has to offer.
