Actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has shared his concerns following a large fire that erupted at the Croma showroom in Bandra’s Link Square Mall on Tuesday morning. He described the scene as “tragic,” as flames rapidly devoured a well-known establishment. This incident led to a Level-IV emergency declaration, with heavy smoke enveloping the vicinity while fire services rushed to handle the situation. For many locals, the day commenced not with the normal rush-hour activity but with alarming sights of flames engulfing a cherished neighborhood venue.
In a post on his Instagram stories, Akhtar remarked, “I hope no one was seriously harmed or killed in the Croma showroom fire on Linking Road. It’s very close to our office, and it’s just a heartbreaking sight to see. My thoughts are with all those affected. I commend our fire department and first responders for their rapid response.”

The fire broke out around 4:11 am and quickly intensified, prompting the Mumbai Fire Brigade to label the situation a Level-IV emergency. Thick smoke billowed through the multi-storey Link Square Mall as firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the flames that were deep within the showroom, located across three basement levels. Emergency teams utilized three small hose lines and 12 motor pumps during their efforts.
An official from the Mumbai Fire Brigade stated, “The fire remained contained within the Croma showroom, impacting three basement levels of the G+3 mall structure. Heavy smoke accumulation throughout the building complicated rescue operations.”
As firefighting efforts continue, officials have relievedly reported that there have been no injuries thus far.
