Farewell to FBI: International as CBS Cancels the Show
The cast and crew of FBI: International are bidding farewell to their audience and the picturesque backdrops of Hungary, following CBS’s decision to cancel the series. The announcement has left fans and actors reflecting on their experiences over the show’s four-year run.
Vinessa Vidotto, known for her role as Special Agent Cameron Vo, shared her sentiments in an emotional post on Instagram. “FBI: International. What. A. Wild ride,” she began, expressing her astonishment at the journey she has had. “Four years. Ten-plus countries. Wow. Never did I think this would be my life. I’ve lived in Hungary longer than L.A. Like, what?! If someone told me that, I wouldn’t believe it.”
Reflecting on her personal growth, Vidotto noted how she transformed from a novice traveler to someone who has embraced new cultures and languages. “I’ve learned a wee bit of Hungarian, enjoyed local food and scenery, and made lifelong friends with coworkers on set, fans, guest stars, and the locals,” she said. She expressed profound gratitude to the audience, acknowledging the unique connections formed along the way. “Thank you for watching our show and being invested. I’ve met so many of y’all in the funniest places, from the post office to being on a Ferris wheel. It’s been challenging and beautiful to have played Cameron Vo. As an actor, being able to learn on set every day for ten months a year has been the best intense learning experience. I needed this chapter.”
Eva-Jane Willis, who portrayed Europol agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson, also paid tribute to the series in her own Instagram post. “There are no words,” she expressed, highlighting the deep friendships formed both on and off the set. “So many countries. So many adventures. Loved every minute. Thank you to all the people who worked their asses off and made this possible. Legends all. Love and prosperity to each and every one of you.”
This cancellation occurred alongside a broader decision by CBS to end both of its FBI spin-offs. FBI: Most Wanted was also cut after six seasons. However, the network is eyeing a new direction with the development of another spin-off, tentatively called FBI: CIA. This forthcoming installment focuses on a covert task force that combines the expertise of a dedicated FBI agent and a street-savvy CIA operative to tackle domestic terrorism in New York City.
The final season of FBI: International is set to wrap up this spring, but the show has witnessed a decline in viewership, noted to be down over 8 percent overall and more than 14 percent in the key 18-to-49 demographic compared to the previous season, according to TV Series Finale.
