Remedy Entertainment Set to Launch Co-op Shooter FBC: Firebreak
Remedy Entertainment is gearing up for the release of its first co-op shooter, FBC: Firebreak, which is set to debut on June 17. The game follows a group of employees assigned to tidy up The Oldest House, the enigmatic headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control. Combining team-focused gameplay with the supernatural elements and unique adversaries that characterized Control, Firebreak is attracting attention for its innovative approach to the genre.
Gameplay Insights
In our initial exploration of the game, a notable and favorable point of comparison emerged with the classic Left 4 Dead, particularly regarding its frenetic action. However, Firebreak distinguishes itself through an eclectic mix of “jobs”—the term implemented by Remedy for missions. These tasks range from conventional objectives to the bizarre, including the management of stubbornly proliferating sticky notes. The developers have committed to enhancing the game with new jobs post-launch, maintaining engagement through 2026. The added content will be free for players, with the exception of cosmetics, which will incur a charge.
Development and Ownership Transition
The journey of FBC: Firebreak began in 2021 when Remedy first announced its plans for a multiplayer experience within the universe of Control, initially published by 505 Games. Following the critical and commercial success of Alan Wake II, Remedy secured the full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games in 2024, marking a significant milestone in its development history.
Release Details
FBC: Firebreak will be launched on June 17, priced at $39.99 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Additionally, a “deluxe edition” will be available for $49.99, featuring exclusive cosmetic items. Players with subscriptions to Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, or PlayStation Plus Premium or Extra will have the opportunity to download and play the game at no additional charge.
