Dragon’s Spirit Augment Underperforms in TFT Patch 14.16
A recent nerf to Dragon’s Claw in Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.16 has sparked a mix of confusion and frustration among players. However, the real issue lies with the Dragon’s Spirit Augment, which appears to be functioning improperly.
The latest patch brought a notable reduction to the healing effect of the TFT Set 12 item, Dragon’s Claw. This adjustment decreased the heal from 5% to just 2.5% every two seconds. Initially, many players had relied on this item, especially in conjunction with the Magic n’ Mayhem Augment called Dragon’s Spirit, which grants a Dragon’s Claw and allows players to receive up to four components each time the unit equipped with it heals up to 7,000 health. Post-Patch 14.16, however, players have struggled to reach this 7,000 heal mark. This confusion stems from the fact that Dragon’s Spirit is not performing as expected, as highlighted by Lauren “Kayna” Wu on August 16.
In the Patch Rundown for 14.16, game design director Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer provided insights regarding the Dragon’s Spirit Augment. He clarified that the healing threshold should consider all sources of healing, rather than solely relying on the Dragon’s Claw item. Mortdog and his team are aware of the ongoing issues, noting that “some healing sources count, some don’t,” as indicated by various screenshots shared by Kayna.
Players should also be mindful of another issue in Patch 14.16 involving Statikk Shiv when used with Ryze. Kayna advised against this combination, suggesting it can lead to unintended consequences for team composition. Additionally, players looking to upgrade Booms within the client should note that while Riot confirmed earlier this week that Booms cannot currently be upgraded, the development team is actively testing a fix that may be implemented in future updates.
As of now, the TFT team has no immediate plans for a mid-patch update. Therefore, any amendments to the Dragon’s Spirit Augment are expected to be delivered with Patch 14.17, which is scheduled to go live on August 28. Until then, players are advised to steer clear of the Set 12 Augment to avoid any potential setbacks.
