Jack White and Greta Van Fleet are set to take the headlining stage at the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on September 29, following the cancellation of Foo Fighters’ performance.

The cancellation of the Foo Fighters’ show was announced just two days prior to the festival, leaving fans and festival organizers surprised. “Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival,” the band informed their followers on social media. They directed attendees to the festival’s website for further details.

Although the specific reasons for the abrupt cancellation were not disclosed, festival organizers hinted that the decision came from the band itself, posting on social media, “Unfortunately, Foo Fighters have announced they’re no longer performing this weekend.”

Despite the disappointment, the festival quickly announced the addition of both Jack White and Greta Van Fleet to the lineup for Saturday, September 29.

The festival organizers swiftly secured Jack White and Greta Van Fleet as replacements for the Saturday night headlining spot. White, currently on his No Name tour, will have a busy schedule as he performs in Connecticut and then quickly travels to Oregon for a show in Portland the next evening, September 30.

The Soundside performance was anticipated to be Foo Fighters’ first show since frontman Dave Grohl publicly acknowledged that he had welcomed a child out of wedlock. On September 10, Grohl shared a heartfelt message on social media, stating, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.”

In a follow-up post, Grohl expressed his commitment to his family, stating, “I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

Foo Fighters’ Soundside gig was meant to be the culminating event in their 2024 tour schedule. Their previous performance took place on August 18 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
