Forest Hills Stadium Confirms 2025 Concert Season Despite Local Noise Disputes
Forest Hills Stadium in Queens is set to proceed with its 2025 season, overcoming ongoing disputes with local residents regarding noise levels.
A stadium representative announced, “We’re pleased to share that the City of New York has authorized Forest Hills Stadium to move forward with our planned concert season for 2025,” in a statement provided to Billboard. “Every year, we prioritize collaboration with our local community and elected officials to host top-level performances at one of the nation’s most prestigious music venues.”
The statement expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We look forward to welcoming fans back this summer and are proud to maintain our status as a cultural pillar within the Queens community.”
Recently, the local homeowners association, Forest Hills Garden Corporation (FHGC), took steps to restrict street closures around the stadium, intending to block permits from the New York Police Department (NYPD) for the concert season. Reports from the New York Post indicated that due to this action, the NYPD also revoked the venue’s sound amplification permits. An NYPD spokesperson commented, “The situation involves disagreements between the Forest Hills Garden Corporation and the West Side Tennis Club, the venue’s owner. While many residents enjoy these summer concerts, we must act to ensure public safety. We hope that both parties can come to a mutual agreement.”
However, sources connected to the matter reveal that the NYPD has chosen to allow the concert series to proceed despite the FHGC’s objections. It was also noted that the FHGC has agreed to follow the NYPD’s directive regarding the concerts.
Both the NYPD and the FHGC were reached for comments but did not respond prior to publication.
The lineup for Forest Hills’ 2025 concert series is poised to begin on May 31, featuring Bloc Party. Alongside them, other acts will include Dr. Dog, two performances by Phish, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, two nights with Mumford & Sons, and performances by The Black Keys, Leon Bridges, Alabama Shakes, in addition to the New York edition of the All Things Go Festival.
