Tragic Death of Former Bodyguard to High-Profile Celebrities
The body of Craig Ainsworth, a former security detail for famous personalities like David and Victoria Beckham, has been discovered in Spain following his disappearance.
The 40-year-old, who also protected stars such as Tom Holland, Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lawrence, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, was a highly regarded ex-Royal Marine. He was believed to be coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
His mother, Sally Ainsworth, shared the tragic news via social media, expressing her grief over the loss of her son.
Prior to the confirmation of his passing, Sally appealed for assistance in finding Craig, noting his disturbing farewell message posted on Facebook.
Search operations were coordinated in areas around Alicante and Barcelona as authorities sought to locate him.
In a heartfelt message, Sally stated: “Craig has been found. With the greatest sadness the world has lost Craig. He served in Afghanistan and he had PTSD.”
Along with her announcement, she included a photograph of him in his military uniform, simply captioning it: “RIP Craig.”
Messages of support quickly inundated her social media, with one friend writing: “Sending hugs Sally, nothing we say would ease your pain.”
Hailing from Enfield in north London, Ainsworth was employed by the Beckhams from 2013 to 2015 when they resided in Holland Park, London.
He had been hired through the American security firm Gavin de Becker.
In remarks following the release of a Netflix documentary on the Beckhams, Ainsworth described David Beckham as “charming” while noting that Victoria preferred to keep a low profile, often dedicating her time to their children or her work commitments.
He remarked on the remarkable behavior of their children amid the pressures of fame, suggesting the family effectively maintained their closeness despite the public scrutiny.
To qualify for his prestigious role, Ainsworth undertook rigorous training, including experiences such as being pepper-sprayed and sparring with an MMA fighter in low-light conditions.
Reports indicate that he had signed an extensive 50-year non-disclosure agreement prior to his employment with the Beckham family.
As of now, details surrounding the circumstances and location of his demise remain unverified.
